GGotW: What do you enjoy about modeling?
MM: I love being creative. That's #1. I love everything about coming up with concepts for shoots and even putting them together. Creativity is key.

GGotW: Who have you worked with?
MM: So many photographers that I couldn't possibly list them all. I work with SMP Photography a lot, he's supported my creativity through every shoot.

GGotW: What would you like to shoot that you haven't?
MM: I can't think of a single thing that I haven't shot that I'd like to. As soon as I come up with something I want to shoot, I dive right in.

GGotW: What do you do when not posing for images?
MM: I work for a recycling company full time!

GGotW: Has your recycling job worked its way in to your pictures?
MM: HA! Usually never. I like my job for the most part, but at work, it's jeans, t-shirts, sometimes hard hat and steel toe boots.. it's a little different from my modeling. I think that's what makes it so interesting though.

GGotW: What styles do you like to shoot?
MM: I love to shoot goth, punk, cyber, industrial, because they fit my personality and what I like. I love to mix genres because I end up with images that are super unique, and that's what I aim for.

GGotW: What would you not shoot?
MM: I usually stay away from full nudity.

GGotW: What upcoming events do you have?
MM: I am modeling for Berit NY at Fangoria in New York in June and will be at Fetishcon in Florida in August. I will be go-go dancing at Jaded in Lowell, MA and have on going shoots with a killer alt clothing team, MTCoffinz. New stuff crops up all the time, so I try to keep my website and myspace current. I also just appeared in the May issue of Status Ink.

News: Site Update

Why the change to the layout of the site? Good question. We have, from time to time, tried to add a feature to GGotW that would allow for more images and a cooler way to display them. This display is called LightBox. It uses java to create a pop-up of the image and the ability to change from one picture to the next without having to use the back button. Simply click on the right side of one image to go to the next, the left will take you to the previous image. Clicking the X at the bottom, or simply anywhere off the picture will take you back to the regular site.

Every time that we have attempted to add this feature to the site, it has failed, or created an error in the template script that Blogger refuses to work around. The discussion came up again after our interview writer, Don McCaskill, told us he had installed it on the Cameron Bright blog he runs.

Another attempt by us and it totally messed up the display of the site, we knew from what happened that we had to install a new template. Now, we have a blackened version of Blogger's Sanddollar Template.
Once the switch was made we installed the Slimbox version of LightBox. A quick test of the changes using the latest Feature and we knew we finally had LightBox working. A few tweaks will continue to happen over the next few weeks, as they always do.

We hope you, the visitors, like the change that we've made and enjoy a larger selection of images with upcoming Features and Profiles. Try it out on these pictures from Image Editor NightShadows.

GGotW: Where do you live?
V: I live in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia (just in case if it sounds too unfamiliar, it's in the South-East of Asia right up from Australia).

GGotW: Are there a lot of goths there?
V: Sadly, not too much. There are some girls that pretend that they're goth or that they understand goth but they just don't.

GGotW: What drew you to the goth culture?
V: Hmm. I think it was the first time I saw Amy-Lee of Evanescence and started searching about goth. I was about 12 at that time so it was the perfect moment when people usually start to search their identity and after seeing lots of true goths, I find them unusually beautiful and fell in love with goth culture. I've been living a pretty much goth life after that, thank God my family supports me especially my mom (Weird, huh?). I like the idea of goth culture and yes, I love the clothes!

GGotW: Where do you get your outfits?
V: Mostly I designed them and had them made so it's pretty custom. I like wearing something different that no one else would wear.

GGotW: Are your circle of friends in Indonesia goth as well?
V: Not really, I wish I could find one. Most of them just agree of me being goth but they're not goth themselves, so yeah. Some people who disagree with goth would just stay away from me though but my friends are all very supportive and they said they like looking at me being a goth.

GGotW: Our Poll on GGotW recently asked what colour do you mix with black?
V: Hmm...well mostly red because red and black are meant to be together haha but I also like neon green and bright purple

GGotW: What is the source of you name Virenne?
V: This is hard. I don't exactly know why myself, but I have an alter ego named Verene, and I was looking for a name that goes well with her name so I randomly picked Virenne. It sounds good anyway. It's a bit of a coincidence though, because there's a small town in France named Virene. But that town doesn't have anything to do with my name, it's just a coincidence.

GGotW: What advice would you give to someone who is looking into goth as you did at 12?
V: Don't listen to what people say! It's been pretty hard for me for being that young and interested in goth but as long as I don't listen to what people say, they would get tired commenting me anyway. Just try as hard as you can, sometimes my schoolmates even give appraisal for my look, they say it suits me best. Well, what I'm trying to say is that don't get down by people's comments, they're just blabbering anyway. :P

Wind blown Marlo MarquiseGGotW: You do Burlesque, what got you started?
MM: I always looked up to showgirls as a little girl, along with ballerinas. I loved how powerful they were when they used femininity, grace and glamor. When I started getting into pinup and fetish modeling, it only made sense to fulfill my dream even more as a performer. After all back in the 1930's and 1940's all the burlesque performers used their pinup photos as a way to market their burlesque performances!

GGotW: So do you use your Burlesque to advertise your Photos or the other way around?
MM: I absolutely use Burlesque and modeling to promote one or the other! They go hand in hand.

GGotW: What has been your most memorable experience as a performer?
MM: I think the first time I ever performed was the most memorable. It was when I realized that I had a passion for it and wanted to pursue it even further, and make a career out of it eventually. I love showing people a good time, that's really what it is about, is seeing an audience really enjoy the show, it's a good feeling.

GGotW: Who have you shot with?
MM: I have shot with many talented photographers, but to name a few that I have worked with multiple times: CandyLust, Insuh Yoon, Studio -X, Chris Gooden, and RedRum Collaboration. They are some of the most amazing people with incredible talent, and I enjoy every minute working with them.

GGotW: We understand you are in Culture De Tragedie, who shot you for it?
MM: Candace from CandyLust used a few images we created together for the Culture De Tragedie book, which I am very pleased with. I haven't seen the book myself yet, but I cant wait to see all that talent in one piece!

GGotW: What else have you done with CandyLust?
MM: CandyLust and I have shot many times together. I think we fell in love with each other creatively, so anytime we have a crazy idea we want to try out, we get together and see what we can pull off! I think the best images come from a trusting relationship between model and photographer.

GGotW: Do you have planned shoots?
MM: My schedule is jam packed right now. I have shoots in the making with Insuh Yoon, Ned & Aya, RedRum on their US tour, Koray, Studio-X, Chris Gooden, James Graham, and many more! All of them top secret! Stay tuned!

GGotW: What have you not shot that you would love to?
MM: I would love to do high concept or high fashion. I've done a lot of pinup and fetish work, but high fashion would be so fun and different for me.

GGotW: Do you have upcoming performances?
MM: I do! On May 2nd, I am a featured attendee for Fixe Magazine's Fetish Prom party at the club QXT, where I will be giving free spanks on the tush!Marlo Marquise in blood red corset

GGotW: We understand you were in Catwalk Tragedy in NY. How did you do?
I was, and it was a fabulous experience. To my surprise, I actually won first place as Miss Catwalk NYC 2009!

GGotW: You're the second Feature that we've had that is involved in SNAPM, what can you tell the readers about it?
MM: Snap'm is a wonderful meet-up group, and the largest in NJ. It's a really great place to meet new people, photographers, models, designers, etc. You definitely want to dress to impress because there are shooting stations on site. Once you get your name out there, you might have the chance to be featured at the event. I was featured in October, and it was really fun showing everyone my portfolio, and meeting new photographers to work with! I highly recommend it, especially if your are starting out, it's a great way to network.
