Sophie Lancaster was murdered in a park in Bacup in 2007. Black Roses is her story told by her mother Sylvia and through a sequence of poems for Sophie by Simon Armitage.

Thats such a sad story she looks like she was such a beautiful young lady robbed of her life for simply dressing differently really tragic.
I'm French and I've just seen a report on TV about her.

I've never heard of her before but reading over the wiki page and the poem really breaks my heart. A black and senseless act of violence, extremely tragic. My heart goes out to her family and the community of anti-hate that built up around her death.
