GGotW: How long have you modeled?

LtV:It's been about 4 years since I started, I love being in front of the camera and having a way to express myself creatively, I don't think I will be giving it up anytime soon.

GGotW: When you model, are you working for the photographer, yourself or a label?
LtV: It depends really, as each shoot is different, I try to stay true to my style and incorporate it into different projects. Most of the brands I shoot for like my style so it isn't really a problem. I think it's good to be versatile but keep in mind, not to shoot anything I know I won't be comfortable with.

GGotW: What is it about Goth that attracted you to the style?
LtV: I was fascinated by horror films and vampires as a child, growing up I discovered goth music and as much as I could express myself outwardly inspired by things I loved. Over time I developed a style that is distinctly 'me' incorporating gothic elements.

GGotW: Who influences you?
LtV: My influences vary, I would say music influences me a lot, also goth icons, like Vampira and Morticia Addams. I love vampires and the pale look.

GGotW: What is the scene like in the UK?
LtV:There is quite a large community of goths in the Uk especially London and bigger cities. There is great nightlife and many shows and events for those interested in the subculture.

GGotW: Where do you see yourself in the scene in the future?

LtV:I wish to become well established, meet lots of interesting people and further hone my craft! I don't think there is a 'right' or 'wrong' way to be goth though I've been through a lot of changes and one day I hope to be someone inspirational.

GGotW: Do you get to travel and see goth scenes in other areas?

LtV:I have lived in Ireland and know of the scene over there, though it's not quite as expansive it's still very much lively!

GGotW: What do you think is the biggest change since you started?
LtV: as far as modelling I think my self confidence has improved and I've become more aware of myself. As far as my involvement in the goth scene, I have noticed more and more young people getting interested , due to it's prevalence on the internet on various social platforms. As a teenager I was grouped together with all the other 'emo' or 'rockers' and I didn't have access to as much information as young people do nowadays.

GGotW: Do you think that Goth is growing or shrinking in The UK?
LtV:While it's not as active as in the beginning, there is still quite a lot of goths of various ages who are passionate about the subculture, who knows what the future will bring?
I feel in the UK we are more fortunate to have a variety of goth events and clubs, which has helped to keep it alive for so many years. I see a lot of younger people who are drawn to the style and music as well as the 'regulars' on the scene,so there's a good mix. I feel it's important to be open minded and accepting of others , as goth encompasses some diversity.

Anne Rice Ball

We found this completely by chance, didn't even know the group was still around. A few of our members used to belong to the Anne Rice Vampire Lestat Fan Club years ago, at different times it seems. Now we discovered that the club is back in operation and getting ready to restart their annual Queen of the Damned Ball. If you are a fan of Anne Rice, or The Vampire Lestat, or you are anywhere near New Orleans this should be a great experience. We've seen pictures of the ball over the years and it looks amazing, you don't even have to be a fan, lots of Goth crowd there to mingle with.

Non members can buy tickets as of Thursday and you can add the group to your MySpace friends.

If you've been in the past, please leave a comment or review of what its been like for you.

Lost Boys 2: The Tribe

Lost Boys: The Tribe the Official Site has updated with a new video trailer, worth watching, and I've gotten you some new photos of from the film.

Corey Feldman returns to familiar turf in the Warner Premiere event, Lost Boys 2: The Tribe, the direct-to-DVD sequel to the 1987 cult hit The Lost Boys that also features his fellow Frog Brother, Jamison Newlander, along with Tad Hilgenbrink, Autumn Reeser and Angus Sutherland.

Corey Fledman, Edgar Frog, Lost Boys 2Principal photography began in late August 2007, on location in Vancouver, BC, under the direction of P.J. Pesce. This sequel takes us to the shady surf city of Luna Bay, California, where vampires quickly dispatch anyone who crosses their path. Into this dark world arrive Chris Emerson (Hilgenbrink) and his younger sister, Nicole (Reeser). Having just lost their parents in a car accident, the siblings move in with their eccentric Aunt Jillian and become new prey for the locals’ way of life. When Nicole unwittingly falls for a local vampire, Chris must locate and destroy the gang’s lifeline before his sister’s transformation is complete; to do this Chris finds himself relying on the expertise of none other than Edgar Frog (Feldman). Subtle references to characters from the original film, and cameos from returning actors offer homage to the Lost Boys legend and set a sinister tone of impending doom.

“Last year when Warner Premiere (a direct to DVD division of Warner Bros.) was established, we knew we wanted to engage with fans of The Lost Boys and have this title on our slate because the original is a favorite film of so many people,” said Nelson. “With Hans Rodionoff’s strong script, and PJ onboard to direct, we were able to realize this project quickly, casting up-and-coming talent like Autumn, Tad and Angus, as well as key players from the original with Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander returning as the infamous Frog Brothers. We have tremendous respect for Joel Schumacher’s original film and are striving to maintain the tone and integrity of the original, while offering something fresh to old and new fans alike.”

Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander are set to reprise their original roles of Edgar and Alan Frog, respectively, in the vampire-centric sequel. Feldman shot to fame in the mid 1980’s starring in a number of successful films like The Goonies, and Stand By Me. Following the success of The Lost Boys, Feldman also had a successful run with several television and music projects. Currently, Feldman is headlining a reality series on A&E called The Two Coreys, with former Lost Boys co-star Corey Haim.

“I am truly excited to be on board for this sequel,” says Feldman. “After reading the latest script I genuinely believe we can deliver a sequel the fans can sink their teeth into. I also commend Warner Premiere on their choice to include Jamison Newlander. Edgar Frog has been laying in wait for 20 years to stake some more vampires and that is exactly what he intends to do with his brother Alan by his side.”

Jamison Newlander is back as Alan Frog, the other half of the vampire-slaying Frog brothers, in the sequel. Newlander most recently wrote, directed, starred in and produced a comedy short called The Rooster.

actress, Autumn ReeserAutumn Reeser stars as Nicole, a teenager who moves to Northern California and finds herself entangled with a gang of vampires. Reeser most recently starred on Fox’s hit teen drama The O.C. Her additional television credits include It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Cold Case, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Grounded for Life and George Lopez. Reeser also appeared in The Girl Next Door, opposite Elisha Cuthbert and Emilie Hirsch.

Tad Hilgenbrink portrays Nicole’s brother, Chris, who – along with his sister – falls in with the dangerous gang of vampires. Hilgenbrink is best known for his role as Matt Stifler in American Pie Presents: Band Camp. He was most recently seen in the horror film 30 Days of Night.

Angus Sutherland, half-brother of Lost Boys star Kiefer Sutherland, stars as the leader of the gang of surfing vampires, echoing Kiefer’s ‘David’ from the original film. Sutherland appeared on the CBS political drama Commander in Chief and will next be seen in Familiar Strangers, due out later this year.

Screenwriter Hans Rodionoff is no stranger to the vampire genre, as writer and director of 1998’s Sucker: The Vampire.

RIP: Vampira

It has come to our attention that Maila "Vampira" Nurmi, while sleeping peacefully, suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away. Maila had recently turned 86 and was in seemingly good health and spirits.

Funeral arrangements are pending due to a search for relatives, but a memorial service will be held in Los Angeles in the near future. If you wish to be notified, please send your contact information to Ghooled@sbcglobal.net.

Nurmi was TV's "Vampira," wearing dark mascara, blood-red lipstick and a revealing black dress as she introduced such films as Revenge of the Zombies and Devil Bat's Daughter.

She became a cult figure among B-movie buffs and some say she inspired the character of Morticia Addams on TV's The Addams Family in the 1960s.

Her best know work is as the vampire in Ed Wood's 1959 classic B film Plan 9 from Outer Space, co-staring BelaLugosi in his final work.

But her fame didn't lead to long-term wealth. In 1989, Nurmi lost a $10 million lawsuit that contended Cassandra Peterson's late-night horror hostess Elvira pirated her character.

A friend says Nurmi supported herself late in her life by selling handmade jewelry.

GGotW: Where are you from?
A: I was born in Morganton, NC. At the tender age of two my family decided to move to Rutherfordton,NC due to excellent job opportunites for both of my parents. I resided there up until recently when I decided to move to Charlotte, NC. I make frequent trips back to my small hometown to visit my family and friends.

GGotW: Can you describe your gothic lifestyle?
A: I find myself breaking the mold that society has, sadly, put on the gothic community. Like so many others, I always appreciate having a good time. I try not to dwell on the diappointments that life brings, but the rewards it offers. I'm always looking to have fun. I don't allow closed minded people to upset me. That is what's so great about the gothic genre are the sub genres that society is to blind to see. There are not any other lifestyles that can borrow from other types of lifestyles. It's not a weekend thing or a every other day sort of thing. It's everyday. If I were to be categorized it would definately have to be gothic punk. This can be seen in my fashion, musical taste, hobbies, choices in entertainment, etc.

GGotW: What is the gothic community like in your area?
A: Most of the clubs in the area have certain nights a month that cater to the gothic community. For example, Purgatory is held the second Saturday of every month at Amos Southend. It has a very industrial theme.

GGotW: What got you into modeling?
A: Even as a young girl I loved staring at myself in the mirror and being photographed. My mother almost entered me into a beauty pagent at the age of 4. I suppose I lucked up when she decided to back out. I also majored in television broadcasting. I anchored and reported for the local cable companies local college news and also interned for Asheville, NC news. I love being in front of the camera and thought it would be perfect for me to model since I didn't really fit the whole news reporter image.

GGotW: When did you start?
A: I started modeling for photographers portfolios a few years ago. I became the official model for the industrial band, "Madams", a little less that a year ago.

GGotW: What got you into acting?
A: In high school I took some ATV courses and that inspired me to major in Radio/TV broadcasting. I then found myself anchoring the college news on a local cable channel. I also reported for the show. I found myself being in a lot of videos for my classmates. I interned for WLOS-Asheville. Once I graduated from college, I found myself not really interested in pursuing that career.

GGotW: What have you done as an actress?
A: I have been in a couple of horror films that one of my friends produced. One was a zombie movie titled, Picking at Your Brain. The other was a vamp movie titled, Bloody Forgiveness. I had a great time doing both.

GGotW: What do you collect?
A: Munster's memorabilia-There is history behind that. Sunglasses-I have about 24 pair or so- I do wear my sunglasses at night! Halloween antiques and decorations- I have loved Halloween since I was a small child. And Halloween socks and stockings-Hey, every girl should accessorize from head to toe!

GGotW: What is your fascination with The Munsters?
A: It all goes back to the 80's. I remember my father and I watching it together when I was young. It was one of the few shows that made my father laugh so hard he would have to catch his breath afterwards. He loved Grandpa's crazy schemes. I have collected Munsters Memorabilia since 2002, when my father passed away. When I look at my collection it takes me back to that part of my childhood.

The MadamsGGotW: What does being the "official" model entail with the band "Madams"?
A: My image can be found in their album art, their flyers, their merchandise, etc. I also go on the road to make appearances at performances. I am there for shock-value. I am going to be colaborating with them on a few upcoming tracks.

Whitby Gothic Weekend

Whitby Goth WeekendIf modern-day Goth-dom had a birthplace I would have to say it was England, probably somewhere on the streets of London. Now the home of Whitby welcomes back it's childe to celebrate for the weekend.

Seems the Noth Yorkshire town of Whitby hosts the twice a year, this year its April 27 & 28 and then again in October on the weekend of the 26th & 27. Last years events included a service by the Rev. Marcus Ramshaw, who is a goth himself.

This years bands include:
FRIDAY -
, , Dust,
SATURDAY -
, , ,

So what does Whitby have to do with Goths? Whitby was inspirational to Stoker and was where he shipwrecked the Demeter, the Russian ship that brings Dracula to English shores, its also where the name .

GGotW: What got you into the Gothic lifestyle?
VK: I would have to say the Fashion overall, or at least the anti-fashion. I'm more into romantic styled dress and venetian masquerade styled goth.

GGotW: What is your definition of Gothic Lifestyle?
VK: My definition, well it's hard to define the goth per say, as it falls into MANY different categories and subcultural spin offs. I would have to say that above all, Goth is about intellectual individuals who adore different periods of dark fashion, music, literature, and art.

GGotW: Where do you live?
VK: Southern California, all over. I love the cites, Los Angeles, Burbank, Pasadena, and all of Orange County. I don't ever want to leave.

GGotW: Do you work in the gothic community, or do you work somewhere that you can dress goth?
VK: As in work, I assume you mean an actual job. I work in the Paranormal, Metaphysical, and Ammunition area. I have my own radio show that I co-host with my fiancee about the Vampire subculture and the occult, I do much in the vampire community overall, and I work a regular day job making Ammunition (and I love it, who else can say they go to work to blow things up).
My style has never been much of a problem, it puts people off a bit, but in the end they realize that I am just like them only a bit more elegant. I never felt that I have to hide who I am, nor will I ever, people just have to understand that having a more diverse work place makes things fun.

GGotW: What draws you to pose and model in the gothic style?
VK: The allure and mystery of it all. When you stop and look at a Bud Light Babe or a Playboy Bunny, you see everything. Their personality, sexuality, sensuality, and girlie bits. It's different with alternative modeling, I love the 50's vamps and femme fatales, I want so much to be like them although I know it will never happen. They create a certain sense of mystery, fear, and seduction that you don't see in Maxim or Playboy and I love it.

GGotW: Who does most of your pictures?
VK: My fiancee, it's easy and it's helping him develop his photography. It's a win win situation, I am very comfortable with him. Sometimes I do my own photography.

GGotW: Have you been paid to model?
VK: I'm still starting out, so no I have not gotten paid to do what I do. Just trying to build my portfolio and resume (which is becoming impressive if I do say so myself).

GGotW: What is your favorite image to date?
VK: My favorite would have to be the "Hollywood Dream", it just screams controversy, which is one of my favorite things if you haven't already guessed. So many people claim to know what it means, they all see it as so many different things. For example: The Movie Industry, Porn Industry, Trends and Fads in Hollywood, Sexual Fetishes, etc.

GGotW: What do you have planned for the future?
VK: A coffee table book, I don't want to reveal to many details, but it will be like a macabre fairytale pin-up book.

GGotW: Where can people find you on the net?
My portfolio, gallery, and personal stats.
My artwork and photography
My myspace is

GGotW: Do you have any advice for people looking to model and get into the community?
VK: My advice, don't ever give up no matter what, if people tell you that your never going to succeed then prove them wrong (this includes those of you under 5'5" which is minimum height for modeling). Use your common sense, no webcam shots, have someone take your first photos for you, start on a good modeling network such as ModelMayhem and set down some rules for yourself.
Another important thing, as tempting as it may be, Suicide Girls will not make you big in a hurry. If you are trying to break away from it and go for high fashion, you will ALWAYS have that dent in your past.

GGotW: Tell us about your fangs, who made them and why did you go with custom made?
VK: I knew this question was coming. My fangs, well I had a fangsmith in Southern California do them, he goes by the name of Psykic Fangs. I went with custom because I was sick of seeing all of these vampire character models with plastic, unrealistic, and scarecrow fangs all over the place. I helped him out, got him going, even modeled for his site and now he's a success and great at what he does. I wear them for more than just modeling, they make me feel good and I think are a beautiful accessory to everyday life. The looks and comments I get are good more often than not and I love the reactions that I get out of them. He does mail orders, but prefers walk ins.

GGotW: Current hair colour?
VK: Poppy Red, it was a nightmare to get looking as good as it does.

GGotW: Why that colour?
VK: I wanted something different, I was tired of looking like Rogue from X-men (which is the way my hair was before). I did it mostly for my BloodRayne cosplay and decided I liked it, so It's been this way since October 2005.
